Dirty Dozen Rankings

  1. Oklahoma: I expect the defending Big 12 Champions to win over BYU in Arlington.
  2. Oklahoma State: Here because a win over Georgia is more impressive than a win over ULM.
  3. texas: They will blow out Lousiana-Monroe, but I want to watch their running game.
  4. Nebraska: Florida Atlantic is a moderately solid opponent, and NU is breaking in a new QB.
  5. Kansas: Northern Colorado is a sweet, sweet cupcake for the Fighting Manginos.
  6. Texas Tech: Taylor Potts will have over 300 yds passing against North Dakota.
  7. Texas A&M: A home win over New Mexico will be a good start for this young team.
  8. Colorado: If they find a QB, they should beat Colorado State. Props for opening with a rival
  9. Baylor: I expect them to lose to Wake Forest, but it should be a helluva game.
  10. Missouri: I expect them to lose to a more experienced Illinois team.
  11. Kansas State: They will beat UMass, but it will be one of few wins this season.
  12. Iowa State: ISU should beat North Dakota State, but it might be their only win in September.

Ohh, where to begin...

He has Texas ranked 3rd. Just about every poll in the country has them ranked 2nd nationally, but in beergut's conference poll they are 3rd. I am sure beergut has knowledge that surpasses those that vote in the national polls.

Look, I am not saying those polls are always 100% right, but they are typically close. I will be rooting for OSU when Texas travels to Stillwater, but that doesnt mean they should be ranked ahead of them pre-season.

Beergut is so blinded to his bias that he cant fathom putting Texas number 1 or 2 in his poll.

what a joke.

Giovanni Vizza Is Not At A&M

http://www.iamthe12thman.com/2009/9/3/1013626/giovanni-vizza-is-not-at-a-m

Beergut, you are hilarious.

"More importantly, this means my reason for waving the Italian flag from the second deck of Kyle Field no longer exists. I guess I will have to wait a little longer to see an Italian manning the quarterback position for the Aggies."

I think it does not exist, mostly because you do not attend A&M football games. Last year, Italian QB or no, you didnt attend a single fightin' Texas Aggie football home game. However, you still claim to be an expert on A&M football.

What an idiot.

Texas A&M averaged around 80,000 fans per game last year. Thats a total attendance of about 560,000 people and not ONE of them was BEERGUT.

A Detailed Look Into The Athletic Department's Struggle To Become Self-Sufficient

Well, well, well what do we have here, another story from Iamthe12thman.com bashing Bill Byrne. Honestly, it is getting very tiresome to pull up the site everyday almost expecting some sort of Bill Byrne tear down piece.

Here is my question, what does Beergut want?

Does he want a return to the days of mediocrity? You have to spend money in major college athletics.

I am not claiming that BB needs to win AD of the Year or anything, but I can also see positives in what he has done. Beergut seems to think that BB has been a 'complete failure,' I adamantly disagree.

Has BB done everything right? NO.
Has BB done everything wrong? NO.

The answer, as it is so often in life (and even more often in politics) is somewhere in the...wait for it... in the MIDDLE.

Let's go back to the days of John David Crow, who wouldnt listen to anyone and set our Athletic Department back 10 years and while Texas and Oklahoma were circling the wagons for their rise to the top, we were stuck in neutral and left in the dust.

You see, Beergut is much like today's right wing extremist, they act as if on Jan. 21st our economy and everything just went into the shitter.

Beergut acts as if, when Bill Byrne took over our athletic department we were at an all-time high as far as revenue and an all-time low as far as expenses. He forgets that their was a reason we were in the market for hiring an athletic director.

The grass, apparently, is always greener for Beergut.

Starting Lineup

http://www.iamthe12thman.com/2009/8/11/986153/starting-lineup

How weird that someone from Iamthe12thMan.com would make a post about something that Billy Liucci wrote about just hours before.

Another Tuesday, another re-written Billy Liucci post.

Billy Liucci's 'Practice Report' was posted at 12:33am on 8/11
MikeTag's 'Starting Lineups' was posted at 11:11pm on 8/11

Hmmm...the same info posted nearly 24 later...coincidence I suppose.

He lists 20 topics to discuss, the first....Starting Line-ups. I am not going to post Liucci's information, because it is paid information, but rest assured Miketag merely regurgitates the info.

I think it is sad that Iamthe12thman.com has to resort to this kind of journalism. Pay some student $10 bucks a day to go stand on the sidelines at practice and report back what he sees. The total lack of putting absolutely any work into their craft is what bothers me so much. Beergut did not attend a single A&M football last season, but yet he had a report about the game each and every week. A&M was only on tv a handful of times last year, so it is amazing to me that he would have any sort of opinion without seeing the game.

Now I am no expert, but I think it would be pretty hard to write a report on something you haven't seen, but apparently that is just par for the course in their eyes.

Unbalanced Scheduling

http://www.iamthe12thman.com/2009/8/11/985043/unbalanced-scheduling

Only a couple of observations here:

1) Wow. What a shock from Beergut, another article bashing Bill Byrne. beergut is so blinded by the opportunity to bash Bill Byrne that he refuses to address anything else. How about a camp report from Day One?

2) "This will elminate the imbalance, and also make it easier for our fans to schedule road trips every year"

Easier for Beergut to travel? The game will have to be played in his back yard for him to make the trip. He did not attend a single Aggie football game last season.

3) "managed to hold on to win as Carl Torbush gave early signs that he had no idea how to stop a shotgun run game."

Ummm....Utah went undeafeated that year, so noboday stopped their shotgun run game.

in conclusion, it should come as no shock that beergut took the time to write his feature article on the first day of pre-season camp on schedule balance.... and that in said story he turned it into a Bill Byrne bash piece.

well done sir, well done.

BEERGUT's PHOTO

I think there is no way to really go on talking about beergut if we do not discuss his profile photo.

<-- WOW.

FIRST - Let's for a second ignore the blurry, creepy webcam picture. He couldn't even crop the photo correctly. I mean, at least center yourself.

SECOND - That looks like a mug shot of a person you would not want your children to be around. I can see a sign in his neighborhood that has the word "registered" with this picture.

THIRD - the wife beater is a good look. I think 1998 was the last year these were popular to wear without a shirt over them, but hey, it's a good look...why get rid of a good thing? Personally, I am glad I keep rockin' my overalls with one side un-buttoned and doc Marten's.

FOURTH - wow. just wow.

Leaving iamthe12thman.com: MY SIDE

I wrote for iamthe12thman.com for about a year.

Beergut, James Taglienti, runs that blog.

I knew he didn't like me, but I forged on and try to stay out of his way as much as possible. Then on July 20th, Beergut wrote this article:

http://www.iamthe12thman.com/2009/7/20/955098/your-picks-for-aggie-all#comments

My comment is the first one after the post. For that post, I got fired as a writer and banned from the site. As if that was not bad enough, I did not even get a phone call or e-mail telling me that I had been removed. The next time I logged on, it just said... 'You have been banned from iamthe12thman.com'

If you read all of the viewable comments (he deleted the ones that made him look the worst): you can see that the only person who came to his defense was miketag and they are related!

After removing several of my posts, a poster named 'pleaseplay kindle' posted this:

Wow.
Did you really remove a post for dissenting with you?
This level of Orwellian censorship would be worrysome if this website had any readership whatsoever.
Count me out, for levels of ridiculous I didn’t think were
possible, even on the internets.

To which, beergut responded with:
actually, I haven't removed any comments from this post
I don’t like to delete comments, so I sometimes just “hide” them from other viewers, which is what I’ve done for all of the comments on here from jarrett. Given that I banned jarrett from this site, you can understand why I don’t want his comments showing.
Since I don’t want to air any dirty laundry here on the blog, if you want to know the how and why he was removed as a writer, and then later banned, feel free to email me. Just click on the envelope next to my name on the bottom of the page

First of all, his explanation is that he doesnt delete comments, he "sometimes just hide[s] them from other viewers" Wow, how dumb am I, that I didnt see the difference.

So I decided next to take beergut up on his offer to e-mail him and find out why he removed me as a writer, then banned me from the site. After about a week he reponded with this e-mail:

You were removed as a writer because the quality of your writing was poor, and added nothing to the blog. Your last two stories were: Coach Sherman is on Twitter, complete with a screenshot, and a uniform poll. You were also very sporadic with your contributions, often going weeks at a time without contributing. You were banned b/c of the idiotic sig file you added to your profile after you were removed as a writer.

Here is my repsonse:

I am going to address each of these issues individually.

1) removed as a writer because the quality of your writing was poor

While I will never claim to be a Pulitzer winning writer, if today's post by iwishiwasalonghorn is any evidence, style formatting or grammar is not your top priority.

2) added nothing to the blog

my goal was to always respect your space and let you post what you wanted to. I never tried to 'beat' you to stay after a game was over. I just posted a story where I felt it was needed. You and mike did a good job on the in-game blogging and post-game stories. I didnt think it was my place to try and take over the blog.

3) Your last two stories were: Coach Sherman is on Twitter, complete with a screenshot, and a uniform poll.

a- the Coach Sherman on Twitter post, I genuinely thought was interesting because we always hear about coaches trying to gain an edge in recruiting and it was refreshing to see an Aggie coach seemingly trying to pull out all the stops.

b- I agree that the uniform poll isnt anything earth shattering but it did seem to get a lot of traffic (going by vote totals)

4) You were also very sporadic with your contributions, often going weeks at a time without contributing.

It never seemed to bother you enough, to send me an e-mail saying "when are you going to post again or why arent you posting more." also, you werent paying me (like i was for the 12th man child), so what does it matter if i post sporadically? All it does if give you more space. Personally, I thought it was nice to have a perspective of someone who attended some games.

5) You were banned b/c of the idiotic sig file you added to your profile after you were removed as a writer.

That was while I was pissed for you removing me as a writer. there's no excuse for that, it was dumb and I apologize for that.

That is just my two cents. I would like to thanks everyone that sent me an e-mail telling me that I had their full support.

This blog ought to be very entertaining, beergut gives us so much.
